Furthermore, the session will dissect composite layering techniques for both anterior and posterior composite restorations. Topics include optimizing esthetics through anterior composite layering, mitigating postoperative sensitivity, and leveraging shade-changing composite materials.

The Periodontal Co-Therapist: Practical Periodontal Therapy to Retain the Natural Dentition
Presented by: Timothy Hempton, DDS, Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine
In addition to providing patient care, dental hygienists educate and advise their patients regarding their periodontal diagnosis, etiology/risk factors, proposed therapeutic options and the treatment experience. This program will present documentation of various clinical cases treated with non- surgical therapy and surgical therapy. These cases will illustrate how practical periodontal therapy can be utilized to provide health, restore the periodontium and improve esthetics for our patients. Scientific evidence supporting the periodontal therapy used in each clinical case is examined.
Learning Objectives
- Review how systemic and local risk factors affect the diagnosis and prognosis of periodontal disease.
- Review the impact of non-surgical therapy on the subgingival biofilm and the value of adjunctive therapy.
- Describe the limitations of non-surgical debridement and indications for surgical intervention i.e. periodontal regeneration procedures.
